On a humid day in Austin, two Gauchos advanced through the qualifying rounds by virtue of strong finishing kicks and aggressive race tactics. After morning rain delays, the evening section went off without a hitch, especially for the first two UCSB athletes who breezed through their heats. Competing in a field of 48 athletes, the preliminary round of racing cuts the field in half, advancing 24 athletes to the semi where only 12 will advance to the NCAA Final in Eugene, Or.
